National Work Zone Awareness Week 2024
National Kickoff Event Hosted by Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT)
ARVADA, CO April 19, 2025 – Once again, Wanco joined transportation and roadway safety officials across the country in recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW). Each year, NWZAW focuses on a specific theme to help underscore the importance of paying attention and slowing down when approaching work zones. The 2024 theme drew particular attention to the dangers of distracted driving:
“Work Zones Are Temporary. Actions Behind the Wheel Can Last Forever.”
The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) hosted this year’s national kickoff for NWZAW on Tuesday, April 16th. The event was held on a bridge in Maryland near the location where six workers were tragically killed in a work zone on I-695 in 2023.
Wanco is committed to supporting the annual NWZAW campaign to help raise awareness about the dangers faced by transportation workers and the shared responsibility of all drivers to pay attention and drive safely, especially in work zones.
